Cmor Mapping- What the Charter Captains don't want you to know...

Posted on

C-MOR Mapping is a relatively new, unknown name in marine cartography. That being said, we do not expect that to last. C-MOR is changing the game for divers and fishermen alike in the Gulf and the Atlantic.

Your typical marine charts will get you detailed depth lines, and a rough idea of what the bottom looks like. What these charts miss are the smaller and more significant fine details; Rocks, reefs, wrecks, and ledges are often lost between the lines. This is where C-MOR comes into play. Knowing where these spots lie can provide fishermen with a huge leg up on their competition, and drastically improve the quality of their trips offshore. With C-MOR cartography on-board you will enjoy some of the sharpest detail you have ever seen on your chartplotter. In shallower waters, every square meter is represented by one pixel on your screen. This resolution is only slightly reduced as you go further offshore, and since their data is generated with high-resolution sonar equipment you know it is accurate.

C-MOR chart cards are currently compatible with a wide range of displays offered by Lowrance, Simrad, B&G, Raymarine, and Mercury Vesselview systems. Older units such as the first-generation NSS and HDS displays are supported. The list of compatible models is not just limited to the bigger “flagship” chartplotters either, for example Simrad’s GO-Series displays will support this cartography. Lowrance’s Elite-Ti series and even the Hook series GPS fishfinders can display these cards.

With growing coverage of the East Coast and the Gulf, C-MOR already has become a staple for many charters, recreational fishermen, and divers, who understand the competitive edge that this level of detail offers. When used alongside traditional fishing charts, you will rarely be left guessing out on the water. Many marine chartplotters such as SIMRAD’s NSS Series offer multiple SD-Card slots and the ability to run these marine charts together.
